1433 AH Ramadan Kit

As-salaam alaykum wa rahmatullaah wa barakatuh

My name is Ashabi and I am so excited about starting this blog. I hope to share lots of exciting things with you because I work with children. Please, feel free to give feedback and suggestions as you read.

It's the first of ramadan and I want to start by giving you tips on keeping you and the kids busy for the day ( in between tryin to read a juz a day). : )

I had been trying to get somethings together for my children's ramadan. F is 9yrs and this is her 3rd ramadan, Abdul is 7 and this will be his 2nd, M is 4yrs and I really don't think she'll attempt it but let's wait and see. F and Abdul want to beat their 24 and 25 days records respectively, insha Allaah

Anyhow, I finally came across some stuffs and decided to share them with you, maybe you can also get them or any other similar craft. This post will introduce and put you through my first gadget. Hope you enjoy my first craft of the month.

Easy Knit Set (Paper Craft)

Well.... this looked so cheap china when I saw it (but I bought it anyway) and it was what I could afford. I took it home, kept it aside and forgot all about it. Then three weeks ago, I brought it out and went through it. The manual was in english but translation was very bad. Alhamdulillaah, I got the gist of it eventually.

Check out my attempt at using the set to make a cute & chic handbag with paper.

a) Step 1: I cut A4 size into right size using the paper cutter

b) Step 2: See how the crimper makes the ridges. I had to roll the paper through the crimper to get this.

c) Step 3: Next comes the folding, glueing and strip making (Abdul is helping with the glueing), it's really tiring making all those strips.

d) Step 4: Interlacing, reminds me of those basket weavers. I learnt paper interlacing in primary school art.

e) Step 5: Taking shape. I had to switch to staplers because the gum that came with it just didn't stick anything together!!!

f) Niiiiccceeee........

g) Step 6: Making the bag cover. This part was a bit tricky

Had to do some careful insertions.

looking familiar??????

Voila! The handle was easy, I just stapled two long strips together.

MY DESIGNER LABEL - THE ASHABI BAG!

This activity will keep your kids glued to the table and they would forget they are fasting. I will get  them to do something simpler like a pencil holder and I defintely will keep you posted.

WATCH OUT FOR GADGET 2 OF 4
